Kevin Bio

I seem to have been born in to this industry. While growing up, my grandfather owned a retail building supply store. He sold lumber, plywood, roofing, insulation, nails, hardware, flooring, etc. as well as they manufactured wood windows and doors in their impressive millwork shop. I have fond memories of snooping through bins of scrap material to find pieces to nail together in to weird shapes. I still remember my grandfather’s stories of extending credit solely based on a face to face meeting with his potential customer.

My first jobs involved working at my parent’s stationary store and a family friend’s dairy farm. I started my first real job when I was 10 years old. I worked weekends and holidays at our local Windsor Plywood store. 10 years later I graduated high school and began work at McKillican Distribution where I worked for the next 17 years. In 2004 I decided it was time to leave the corporate machine I was employed by and start my own business.

The business began with a very simple concept of doing business with people rather than companies, as my grandfather would put it “doing business on a hand shake”. I planned to accomplish this by bringing some old time values of respect and honor back to the business relationship. At the same time, treat customers and staff the way we all want to be treated and remember that there is life outside of work.

It is a very simple concept that has proven to be successful.
